Open World Project is an ambitious project of Georgian world-jazz band The Shin and international musicians from Stuttgart.

In the Open World Project Argentinean Tango fuses with Arabic sounds and Caucasian spirited melodies. North African beats meet Latin American rhythms, highlighted by stunning flamenco guitar, driving bass and jazzy drums. Algerian and Argentinian singer and Georgian polyphony, lot of percussion, drums and guitar makes it a  surprising   Arab-Argentinian- Caucasian-sound experience.

Lineup:

Zurab Gagnidze (The Shin/Georgia) — bass, vocals
Mamuka Gaganidze (The Shin/Georgia) — vocals, percussion
Gabriela Brgallo (Argentina) — vocals

Russian tour

Our Russian tour is over. The short story is that we performed at the Moscow House of Music, in the Moscow suburb Elektrougli, conducted master classes for the project “Planet of People” in Perm, performed together with members of master classes at the festival “White Nights” in Perm, and had a concert in Nizhny Novgorod.

The longer story is that these 10 days spent in Russia have left vivid memories and an emotional glow from our impressions, experiences and surprising encounters.

In Moscow, we were touched by the sincere concern of the Union of Georgians in Russia. We were helped very much by the Polish Cultural Institute to be able to bring along Jakub Mietla (accordion). Our great friend Artjom presented us with The Shin t-shirts. These few days spent in Moscow will never be forgotten!

In Elektrougli we met Father Alexander and Father Andrei, who dedicate their lives to bringing spirituality and enlightenment to this small industrial town.

In Perm, we were supported by our wonderful friends – the organizers of the project “Planet of People”, Evelyna, Marina, Seraphima, Alexandra, delicate but unbelievably strong women, and dedicated promoters. All the participants of the master classes showed intense enthusiasm and incredible discipline: In only three days the dancers, guitarists and singers were not only able to grasp the complicated material, but also to prepare a few pieces and participate in our concert. Bravo!

In Nizhny Novgorod we got to meet still more amazing people – the organizers of the concert – Pavel and Victor, who very professionally organized our visit and the concert, and also shared with us their beautiful city. We also met members of the Georgian community of Nizhny Novgorod who passionately and carefully preserve their culture.

Thanks to everyone who was there for us, and those we met by the way, to all who warmed us with their hospitality, the interest in our music and our culture!
